Over the course of a week, we’ll show you some of the world’s best-preserved wrecks. With five days of diving, you’ll discover the secrets of all four of the famous Bell Island shipwrecks. Intact and upright on the bottom, over 400 ft long, and in virtually the same conditions as the day they were sunk by German U-boats in 1942, these wrecks are sure to have you coming back again.
Along with exploring the shipwrecks, this tour features seven nights’ accommodations, five days of diving (two dives a day), and includes tanks (2 x 80 cuft alum), air, on-boat lunches on dive days, and complimentary airport shuttle service. However, nitrox and equipment rentals are extra.
(Can be adjusted based on your groups’ desires)
Arrival and meet and greet. This will give you an opportunity to get your gear in order for the next day's dives.
Two dive day on the PLM-27 and Saganaga. The shallowest of the four wrecks, the PLM-27 (50 feet to the deck), will provide you a great start to your shipwreck diving adventure. The second shallowest of the wrecks, the Saganaga, features amazing swim-throughs and a couple oddities. During this dive, you’ll find out just what that anchor is doing on the deck.
Two dive day on the Lord Strathcona. The second deepest of the wrecks, the Strathcona, will provide a higher level of preservation while allowing for longer bottom times.
Two dive day on the Rose Castle and PLM-27. The deepest of the wrecks, the Rose Castle is the best-preserved wreck. Her rigging is still intact, and the Marconi Room is not to be missed!
The evening of the fourth day will also feature your optional Screech-In, where you will become an honorary Newfoundlander (Don't worry, it doesn't hurt that bad).
Two dive day on two of the Bell Island wrecks. Weather and group dependent.
Day of rest to get you ready for your flight home. In the unlikely event of a "blow out", this day may be used to get your fifth day of diving in. If in the season, you can choose to add a Close Encounter with Humpback Whales tour where you will snorkel with whales for half of the day.
Departure, and as you are now an honorary Newfoundlander, you're welcome back anytime! Especially to explore the wrecks, as there is too much to see in just one week!
